Don’t go looking for a Sports page because there isn’t one. After last Monday’s beautiful afternoon of local sports, every event has been postponed due to the weather. This afternoon (Tuesday, as I’m writing this) isn’t much nicer but since it isn’t snowing the kids are getting in their games. (So sorry I can’t get there, Brrrr.)

Minnie Engholm, 97, of Sleepy Eye passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Sleepy Eye Medical Center. A public service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan. A public visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday prior to the service. Burial will take place at Zion Eden Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

World Day of Prayer observed April 22

The Sleepy Eye World Day of Prayer will be held Friday, April 22 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church. The World Day of Prayer service includes a Bible reflection, worship songs, petitions, and voices of women from Wales, England and Northern Ireland.

Leadership change for Sleepy Eye Food Shelf

After 23 years at the helm, Sleepy Eye Area Food Shelf Board President Josie Rose has decided to step back from that leadership position, passing it on to board member Ann Mc- Cabe, who was elected president at the board’s March meeting.

Want my opinion on the weather? Again? April is the cruelest month (one of my longest held beliefs.) Well, at least it was nice on Monday for the big Sleepy Eye Sports-orama! And, a good time was had by all. (Just think, if we had a boys tennis team, they could also be playing in that same neighborhood at the same time!) While the official plan is for CJ to take pictures at home baseball and softball games, there is a slight complication because he is on the track team.
