St. Paul, MN – On Sunday, January 12, leaders from the Senate DFL and Republican caucuses announced a historic organizing agreement to govern the work of the Senate while it exists with a 33 – 33 tie. The agreement passed as a resolution on the Senate floor on Tuesday, January 14, the first day of the 2025 session.
St. Paul – State lawmakers returned to St. Paul for “Opening Day” ceremonies at the State Capitol on January 14. State Representative Paul Torkelson (R-Hanska) was among the representatives who were sworn in as members of the Minnesota House for the 2025 and 2026 sessions.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Jan. 16, Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) and Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) introduced the Protecting Infrastructure Investments for Rural America Act, legislation that would make funding under the Rural Surface Transportation Grant Program -- also known as the Rural Grant Program -- more accessible for rural communities by removing barriers that currently put rural America at a disadvantage.
