Early childhood screening set for Feb. 6

Independent School District 84 will be offering early childhood screening services to district residents on Thursday, Feb. 6 at the Sleepy Eye Elementary School. Early childhood screening is not used to determine readiness for kindergarten but is designed to detect delays in specific areas early in a child’s development. The sooner the problems can be recognized and referred for further assistance, the better service the child will receive to correct the delay.

Sleepy Eye Public School News

Sleepy Eye Public School is back in full swing after a well-deserved holiday break. I certainly hope that the winter weather will treat us a bit nicer than what we have experienced so far. I don’t mind the cold temperatures but like everything else I prefer it in moderation. We have a long way to go yet but I am hoping that we see a little less frigidity that we had the past month.

The Knights extended their lead further in the second half, led by Morgan Mathiowetz (44 points, 7-for-9 on 3s) and Olivia Schieffert (22 points). Paige Haala made four 3-pointers and led the Indians’ in scoring with 19 points.

ASK A TROOPER: Bicycles at stop signs

Question: I have seen numerous times where a bicyclist will not stop at a stop sign, if they are sharing the road with automobiles. I have seen a couple of close incidents where the bicyclist is almost hit as well. Are bicyclists under the same rules if they are sharing the road with automobiles?
