Members of the National Honor Society from both Sleepy Eye Public and St. Mary’s high schools will collect donations for the Sleepy Eye Food Shelf on Halloween.

Halloween is almost upon us and many households stock up on candy for the costumed kids who ring the doorbell and say, “Trick or Treat.” While the young kids and families enjoy this fun and carefree tradition, there is a group of older kids who turn it into a time for community service.

Again this Halloween, members of the National Honor Society from both Sleepy Eye Public and St. Mary’s high schools will collect donations for the Sleepy Eye Food Shelf.

Students will be collecting food from houses on Saturday, Oct. 31 starting at 6 p.m. In addition to ringing doorbells and accepting food donations, the students remind that anyone who would like to donate and won't be home can leave a bag by the curb with a sign to be picked up.
