The River Valley Wildcats tennis team had one of the best seasons in a while last season.

The River Valley Wildcats tennis team had one of the best seasons in a while last season. This year the Wildcats (12-7) improved as the season went on as they reached the section semifinals for the second straight year.
Senior Kalyn Haas went all the way to the semifinals in the Section 3A singles competition and took fourth place overall.
Haas won her first two matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2, before losing to eventual section champion Aubrey Eckstrom 6-4, 6-4. In her third place match, Haas couldn’t fight all the way back as she ended her career with a 6-1, 6-4 loss to Karli Olsen of Blue Earth Area and finished in fourth place in Section 3A.
The Wildcats had a complete team this season. From first singles all the way to third doubles, the Wildcats found success.
Eight players recorded 10 or more wins this season and the seniors on the team had one of the best to finish out their careers.
Haas won eight matches for the Wildcats at first singles this season and finished with 43 career wins.
Lauren Laffen won 14 matches this season and ended her career with an impressive 46 wins.
Natalie Stevens had 14 wins this season as well, an improvement from her nine wins last season.
The Wildcats also got production and great play from some underclassmen as well.
Sophomore Hanna Himmelman locked up the second singles position and won 10 matches this season.
Lauren Klein, also a sophomore,  had a great season as well with 13 wins at fourth singles.
The duo of Courtney Engholm and Karlie Ries at third doubles was a winning combination as those two rallied off a team-high 17 wins this season
