The Sleepy Eye Indians volleyball team schedule to open the season wasn’t an easy one to say the least.  With their first five games on the road, it will be a while until the Indians play in a familiar gym.
The Indians opened their season on August 27 at Martin Luther where they fell in five sets in an exciting matchup. The Indians were also in action on Tuesday in Mankato when they lost 3-0 to Loyola Catholic.

(25-16, 22-25, 20-25, 26-24, 15-11)
After dropping the first set, the Indians came back strong taking the next two sets. But Martin Luther came storming back and won the next two sets to give the Indians their first loss of the season in five  sets.
Josie Schieffert led the way for the Indians with 18 kills in the match. Schieffert also added four aces as well. Courtney Dittbenner had a nice game with 27 assists to go along with two kills. Mya Ibberson had nine kills for the Indians and Madi Heiderscheidt had six kills to go with four digs.

Loyola Catholic 3 Sleepy Eye 0
(25-19, 25-14, 25-12)
The Crusaders rolled over the Indians in three sets on Tuesday. After a close first set, the Crusaders rolled in sets two and three winning by a combined 24 points.
The Indians had just five kills in the match. Schieffert and Heiderscheidt each had two kills and Ibberson added one.
Dittbenner had four assists in the loss.
The Indians couldn’t overcome their mistakes as they had 20 errors in the match.
