The Sleepy Eye Legion Post 7 baseball team split their four games this week. After a tough loss at home against Mankato, they split their two games at the GFW tournament on Saturday and followed that up with a big victory over Mankato on Monday.

The Sleepy Eye Legion Post 7 baseball team let one get out of hand on June 18. A 3-3 game after four innings quickly turned ugly as Mankato scored five runs on just two hits. Post 7 committed four errors in the inning alone and could never overcome the bad inning.
Austin Fischer got the loss on the mound for Post 7. He went five innings, giving up four hits and striking out one.
David Surprenant led the way at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. Those two RBI came in the first inning when he singled up the middle with two outs to score Jared Beltz and Dylan Klein.
The other two runs scored by Post 7 were on error in the second and another error in the sixth.

David Surprenant made his mark all over the place  in Post 7’s first game of the tournament. On the mound he got the win, striking out nine and walking five. Surprenant also had three hits in the game, including a double.

Post 7 dropped a tough one in their second game of the tournament. Jon Kopacek took the loss on the mound as they couldn’t pull out the win.
Lucas Heidersheidt and Austin Fischer each had two hits.

Brandon Helget went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple to lead Sleepy Eye to the big win on June 22. Jake Mielke got the win on the mound. He went the complete game, allowing four hits while striking out three.
