The new store opening in Sleepy Eye - Northern Sun-Kissed Unique Gifts, a collectibles shop owned by Dohn and Kelly (Beach) Schroepfer.

Downtown Sleepy Eye qualifies as a destination for antique and collectible shoppers with the addition of several new stores over the past year or so. The newest entrant is Northern Sun-Kissed Unique Gifts, a collectibles shop owned by Dohn and Kelly (Beach) Schroepfer.

Dohn explained that they were nearly set to open the shop earlier this spring in a barn on their farmsite when a fire destroyed the barn. Their misfortune turned out to be Sleepy Eye’s fortune when the two decided to rent store space at 229 Main Street West.

The store features collectibles such as a variety of glassware, vintage Avon items, liquor decanters and much more. “We’ll have toys and clothes, too,” said Kelly, adding the clothes will be new, used and/or on consignment.

Joining the Schroepfer’s at Sun-Kissed is Todd Pidde, owner of Reclaimed Wood Products. Todd makes furniture from reclaimed wood and is happy to create custom crafted pieces for customers. His work will be on display in the store, and his woodshop is located in the “backroom.”

Kelly, Dohn and Todd are eager to welcome curious shoppers into their new store in downtown Sleepy Eye. They have a facebook page where photos of some of their unique wares can be seen. They’ll open for business with a grand opening weekend, July 2 through 5.
