On Wednesday, March 18, the Sleepy Eye High School band and choir participated in the Minnesota State High School League Choral/Band Contest at Glencoe-Silver Lake. Vocal music instructor, Kristina Iwan said, “Their performances were fantastic and they received great feedback from the judges.”

After their performances, the students are ready to start preparing for the Band/Choir tour to St. Louis on April 10-12. In St. Louis students will be participating at a clinic at Washington University and a contest called Music in the Parks at Six Flags. While on tour students will also get to spend a day at Six Flags, visit the St. Louis Arch, and enjoy a river cruise along the Mississippi.

There will be a Bon Voyage Concert, Thursday, April 9 at 8:30 p.m. in the high school gym before the choir and band head off to St. Louis. All are welcome to come listen. Iwan expressed thanks to the American Legion and the United Way for providing scholarships for students to go on the trip. She said they also appreciate all those who donated at any of the concerts this year to help make the trip possible.
