A three-vehicle crash near Sleepy Eye Nov. 9 killed the driver of a farm tractor who had been thrown into the path of a pickup truck, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

 


A three-vehicle crash near Sleepy Eye Nov. 9 killed the driver of a farm tractor who had been thrown into the path of a pickup truck, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
The accident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. on County Road 27 west of New Ulm.
Killed was Alan V. Brandel, 58, of New Ulm.
According to the State Patrol the farm tractor, with no cab, was hit from behind by a Ford pickup heading east. The impact ejected Brandel onto the road. A Nissan pickup struck and killed Brandel.
The Ford pickup was driven by Glen Mathiowetz, 50, of Sleepy Eye. The Nissan pickup was driven by Steven Asmus, 46, of New Ulm. Neither of the pickup drivers were injured.
The patrol said alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
