On Monday, Oct. 10, the school board met in a regularly scheduled meeting with approval of the dissolution of hockey paring between Sleepy Eye Public, St. Mary’s and Springfield Public Schools. The board also approved a new hockey pairing agreement with Sleepy Eye Public, St. Mary’s, New Ulm Public, New Ulm Cathedral, Martin Valley Lutheran and Springfield.

 


The current co-op involved New Ulm Public, New Ulm Cathedral and Minnesota Valley Lutheran. The girls’ hockey association co-op is unaffected with this decision and remains the same.
In other news, the board:
*Heard a presentation from Nancy Moore and Kevin Schneider on the progress being made for curriculum writing. Check points have been established to help the system stay on track and deadlines have been confirmed when the curriculum has to be completed. A new format has also been put in place to ensure similarity across the board.
* Approved the hiring of  Christine Unger as the new high school special education paraprofessional at $9.93 per hour for 6.5 hours a day.
* Approved the hire of Casie Schewe as EC Specialist for the toddler class at three hours per class at $27.76 per hour for 18 classes, and as a paraprofessional for the two-year-old class at two hours per class for 18 classes at $9.93 per hour.
*Approved the Minnesota State High School League Foundation Grant Application requesting funds that assist, recognize, promote and fund extra-curricular participation by high school students in athletic and fine arts programs.
*Approved homebound instructor Angie Tauer up to six hours a week at $20 per hour.
*Approved transportation student numbers for the 2011-2012 school year.
*Approved the elementary extended day personnel.
*Approved the assurance and compliance report.
*Approved John Cselovszki as the administration LEA representative for the 2011-2012 school year.
*Approved the Truth and Taxation hearing date of Dec. 8, 2011, at 7 p.m.
*Approved the year one FLY (Flexible Learning Year) report.
*Approved the resolution for approval of the absentee ballot board for the Nov. 8, 2011, special referendum election.
*Approved the SEEA (Sleepy Eye Education Association) master agreement for the 2011-13 school years as presented.
*Approved the Minnesota State Education Association agreement for the 2011-2013 school years.
*Approved the non-union support salary and benefits as presented for the 2011-2013 school years.
*Set the next school board meeting date as Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
