He attended District 15 country school and helped his family on the farm. In 1954, Alvin enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict era until he was honorably discharged in 1956. On August 28, 1954, Alvin was united in marriage to Theresa Rotering at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Their union was blessed with four children. After Alvin’s military career, he and Theresa farmed in Milford Township and raised their children together. Alvin loved farming and especially loved to share that love with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed planting trees and flowers, playing cards with friends, and going to family activities. He was also an active member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council, St. John’s COF, 11 a.m. Mass usher for Cathedral for many years, American Legion, and former School Board Member for District 213.
Alvin was a much-loved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who has completed his final harvest on earth. He now moves on to a better place where the weather is always perfect and crops are harvested problem free.
