Mary Hoffmann attended the annual Minnesota Association of Agricultural Educators (MAAE) Conference in Hinckley July 8-11. Also attending were Sleepy Eye Ag. teachers Katie Emmett, Paul Hendrickx and Alyssa Mitchell, and summer intern, Meta Tewes.
The Sleepy Eye Area Historical Society asked the Seifert Quad sisters if they would agree to have a childhood photo of themselves featured on the 2025 Christmas ornament — and they were thrilled to say yes. The year 2025 marks their 75th birthday. Sadly their brother Mike passed away several months prior to their birthday.
Hope everyone is having a great summer. The library has been in full swing with events and patrons stopping in. We hit 3,138 checkouts for the month of June. That is a new high for us and I’d like to thank my staff for all their hard work. It really brings us joy to see the young and “seasoned” patrons using the library.
Farmfest 2025 attendees should plan to visit the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s (MDA) exhibit for information on a wide variety of agriculture-related programs and resources, including a free nitrate private well testing clinic.
The All-Stars representing the Tomahawk East League and the Corn Belt League converged at the Stark Ballpark on Friday evening, July 11. In the days leading up to the game, the weather didn’t look very promising with significant rain in the forecast. Fortunately, the rain didn’t impact the game as the teams just played through a shower which lasted about half an inning.
The top five finalists for the Farmfest 2025 Woman Farmer of the Year Award have been selected. IDEAg Group, LLC., producers of Minnesota Farmfest, will bestow the sixth annual Farmfest Woman Farmer of the Year Award on Thursday, Aug. 7 at the Farmfest event. Award judges selected the nominees whose applications demonstrated a high level of commitment to the farm or ranch in terms of hours dedicated; positive impact on income, yield, diversification or challenges; community involvement and passion for her farm and the Ag industry.
