Picnic on the Farm set for Sunday, June 22

The Brown County Farm Bureau announced that Sellner Dairy Farm will host this year’s Picnic on the Farm on Sunday, June 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cheeseburgers will be grilled by the Redwood Area Cattlemen’s Association and be available until they are gone. A free shuttle bus will be available at Sigel Ball Park (18978 Grandview Road, New Ulm — just down the road from Sellner Dairy Farm). Limited handicap accessible parking will be available at the farm.

The Sleepy Eye Family Aquatic Center opened for the season on Wednesday, June 11, after repair-related delays. The day started with water aerobics at 7 a.m.

Forgiveness isn’t easy, but we all need it

I have been talking a lot about forgiveness lately, because in the Apostle’s Creed, it specifically affirms that, as Christians, we believe in the forgiveness of sins. We believe that God forgives our sins, and we recognize the importance of forgiving the sins of others. As the Lord’s Prayer teaches: “forgive us our sins/debts/trespasses as we forgive those who sin/trespass against us.”

School Board votes on mascot

The Sleepy Eye Public School Board of Education’s regular meeting was Wednesday evening, June 11 — after this issue of the Herald-Dispatch was printed and on the newsstands. A matter of public interest was to be decided at Wednesday’s meeting.
