June Dairy Month event at Sleepy Eye Museum Saturday
The Sleepy Eye Museum invites kids of all ages to a June Dairy Month event on Saturday, June 28, 10 a.m. to noon.

‘Funny Girl’ coming to a stage near you!
Thirty-two years after becoming a town fixture, the Sleepy Eye Community Theater is serving up heart and humor with its production of “Funny Girl,” a musical partly based on the life of comedian and Broadway star Fanny Brice.

Hello summer! We love this busy time of the year at the library. The Summer Reading Program is off to a great start with about 150 kids participating. The goal is to keep the kids reading most of the summer, so when school starts they will be able to jump right in and be successful. Besides focusing on reading, there are weekly activities to keep their minds and bodies active.

Sleepy Eye native charged with federal and state crimes in shootings, murders
Vance Boelter, who grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1985, is charged with stalking, shootings, and murders in the case of the shooting deaths of state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and the shooting of state Senator John Hoffmann and his wife, Yvette, early Saturday morning. Found in Boelter’s vehicle was a list of Democratic lawmakers and others that he apparently intended to target.
MFU to host legislative update June 23 in Sleepy Eye

Come at 5:45 p.m. for pizza sponsored by Brown, Cottonwood and Redwood County Farmers Unions. The legislative discussion begins at 6:30 p.m. State and Federal legislation will be discussed.
Special Session ends with new budget, smarter spending
ST. PAUL – Following a one-day special session where state lawmakers finalized Minnesota’s upcoming budget, State Representative Paul Torkelson (R-Hanska) said some balance was finally restored at the State Capitol with Republicans having equal control in the Minnesota House.
