Yard signs celebrating local graduates have sprouted on the lawn at Americana Community Bank once again. A five-year tradition the bank started in 2020 to make graduation special for the seniors who graduate that pandemic-affected year. The signs have the seniors’ photos and school names on them and are given to the students to take home prior to graduation. Both local high schools have graduation this weekend - Sleepy Eye Public on Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. in the gym and St. Mary’s on Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m. in the church.
Farmers enrolled in the Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP) saw nearly double the profits of non-certified farms, according to recent data from the Minnesota State Agricultural Centers of Excellence.
Sleepy Eye High School seniors were recently presented with the following awards and scholarships.
The 2025 Sleepy Eye Memorial Day events will be held on Monday, May 26, beginning with the 9 a.m. Flag Raising at Veteran’s Park on Main Street, and Flag Raising at St. Mary’s Cemetery at 9:15 a.m. The Memorial Day Program follows at 9:30 a.m. at Home Cemetery. The main speaker will be Minnesota First District Congressman Brad Finstad of New Ulm.

Minnesota State University, Mankato held spring commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 9 in Taylor Center’s Bresnan Arena on campus.
