Childcare burn case ends in settlement
The scalding of a 12-month-old at Sleepy Eye’s publicly funded Little Sprouts Learning Center in February 2023 has resulted in a $900,000 settlement with the daycare provider’s insurance carrier. The amount – and an update on the child’s recovery from her severe burns – were provided in a Brown County court hearing last week in which Judge Richard Rodenberg approved the settlement and distribution of money in the personal injury case. The child, who lives in New Ulm, was flown to Hennepin County Medical Center’s Burn Center the day of her injury with burns to her face, chest and left arm.
