Girl golfers win sections, young boys squad finishes fourth
The Sleepy Eye United girls golf team won the Section 2A championship for the third year in a row this week, led by individual champion Sam Price.Price, a sophomore, also took first in the section meet last year.

Wildcats send relays, two individuals to state
What a difference a little extra motivation makes.For the River Valley girls’ 4x400m team, the difference was five seconds under its previous season best, for a 4:06 on Saturday at the Section 2A meet in Mankato, putting the Wildcats within half a second of the fastest time this year in all of Class A.The motivation: finally getting pushed by another team, said coach Heidi McCone, in the form of Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, which took second in just under 4:11.For Evan Thompson, the difference was about two-and-a-half feet, the distance by which he exceeded his personal record in the shot put to advance to the state meet.His motivation: getting upset, when he thought he had no chance to advance, Thompson said.
