Sleepy Eye man admits guilt in child sex abuse cases, faces 20-year sentence
A 66-year-old Sleepy Eye man entered guilty pleas Tuesday in three sexual assault cases that spanned decades and involved three victims whom he knew and who were children when the abuse occurred.Douglas Allan VanOverbeke, most recently of the 300 block of Maple Street SE, faces a combined sentence of 20 years in prison for the crimes as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

SEMC discontinues lake trail bike share
The bike rental program that the Sleepy Eye Healthcare Foundation began in 2017 at Sportsman’s Park has ended, done in by the rising costs to keep it running.The initiative provided six white Shimano seven-speed bikes that sported the medical center logo, cushioned seats and solar-powered Bluetooth locks.
