Between rains, spring planting progresses

Minnesota’s corn growers as a whole remained slightly ahead of their five-year pace entering this week, even as wet fields slowed the work, the latest USDA crop progress report showed.In Brown County, some farmers were done planting or nearly so, while others were waiting for drier conditions to finish a bulk of their acreage.“With this weather I’ve been reluctant to put too much corn in the ground,” Phil Sellner said last week on a morning that brought more rain.
