The Indians handed the Knights their first loss of the season Tuesday with strong defense and a late scoring run that turned a close game into a runaway home-court celebration for a Sleepy Eye team that’s hungry to rise the ranks of section contenders.Sleepy Eye’s 60-45 victory moved the Indians to 4-1 and showcased the kind of grinding, defensive play that’s becoming their identity.“We stress defense every day in practice, and it’s hard – we stress defense hard,” coach Shane Heiderscheidt said.They aim to hold their opponents’ top scorer to 10 to 15 points below their season average.

The city is working to clear trees and brush from the north side of Allison Park so people can better take in the view of Sleepy Eye Lake.Trees and underbrush in one section were recently removed, much of it by the city and some by Zinniel Tree Service, which handled the larger trees, City Manager Bob Elston said.
