SE wins baseball section opener 10-0

The top-seeded Indians made quick work of their first playoff opponent Tuesday, winning 10-0 in five innings at home against eight-seeded Martin County West in the Section 2A baseball playoffs. Sleepy Eye took advantage of several fielding and throwing miscues by the Mavericks, who committed nine errors, while the Indians committed none themselves.

Sports Out of the Past

50 years ago - May 29, 1973 Sleepy Eye High School freshman, Kris Nazarenus, placed second in the state qualifying track meet in New Ulm and will enter the state track meet at Bloomington next Saturday. Nazarenus ran the 880 in 2:42.

Track athletes headed to section meet

The River Valley Wildcats 4x400m boys delivered one of those make-your-coach-proud moments at the 2A Subsection North meet May 25 at Sibley East High School. Jake Heinrichs, Noah Christensen, Matthew Groebner and Nate Sandgren unleashed the team’s best time all year – 3:40.64 – to win a nipand- tuck race in which eight-tenths of a second separated the top three places.
