The salon opened April 24 on the southeast corner of Main Street and First Avenue following a major overhaul, with new walls, floors, ceiling, plumbing and electrical work.
The north side of Main Street was decked in orange for blocks on May 17 as workers replaced segments of sidewalk that crews had dug through last year to install underground fiber optic cable. The public will see more work in the coming months on Nuvera's Gig City project, which is bringing the company's fiber network to residents and businesses.

With the end of the regular season in sight, the River Valley Wildcats competed in the Section 2A True Team Meet on Tuesday, May 9, at United South Central High School in Wells. The True Team Meet is the state qualifying meet for entire teams. There were 16 teams in this meet and the Wildcat boys and girls both finished fifth.
