Happy 106th Birthday to Marie Dauer

Marie Dauer, a resident at Divine Providence Community Home, turned 106 years old on April 17. A celebration was held at Divine Providence on her birthday. Staff showed their admiration by decorating the space with photos of Dauer from throughout her life, wearing her favorite color— blue, and surprising her with a special “Happy Birthday” rendition by St. Mary’s Catholic School Band and Choir students.

Lady Knights over Maple River

The Knights played a non-conference game at Maple River on Tuesday, April 18 (the only day any of the teams played last week) and won decisively. Knights 11, Maple River 0 Lacey Mathiowetz got the win on the mound giving up 1 hit, walking 2 and striking out 13.

• Two Sleepy Eye residents have been charged in Brown County District. Court, with several counts assault, and child abuse. Kyle Thomas Nason, address listed as 817 1st. Avenue South, Sleepy Eye; and Kaitlynn Rae Hackbart.h, address listed as 201 Main St.. W #1, have each been charged with three Felony counts: third degree assault-victim under four; third degree assault-past, pattern of child abuse; and Malicious punishment of a child-child under four.
