GERALD EUGENE FRAUENDORFER

Gerald Eugene Frauendorfer, 84, of Humphrey, Neb., passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Neb. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey with Father Eric Olsen celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 - 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cornlea, Neb. Gerald was born on February 16, 1939, in Humphrey to Anthony and Anna (Vavra) Frauendorfer. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Cornlea. On November 24, 1959, Gerald was united in marriage to Virginia Heesacker at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Gerald enjoyed farming. He worked at Behlen’s Manufacturing a short time as well as Lindsay Manufacturing for 42 years until he retired at the age of 82. Gerald is survived by his children, Brenda (Tom) Harding, Pam Shanle (Greg McCloud), Terry (Gail) Frauendorfer, Daniel (Linda) Frauendorfer, Kenny Frauendorfer (Amy Allen), Sheila (Tom) Foltz, Becky Frauendorfer, Jerry (Jeni) Frauendorfer, Carla Frauendorfer, Travis (Kaela) Frauendorfer, and Russell Frauendorfer, 36 grandchildren, 44 greatgrandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two stepgreat- grandchildren, sister JoAnn Veik, five brothersin- law, and seven sisters-in-law. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Frauendorfer, son Mark Frauendorfer, grandson Quintin Harding, his parents, infant sister Wilma Jean, brother Duane (sister-in-law Mary Ellen), brother James (sister-in-law Kathaleen), brother Ronald (sister-in-law Donna), brother Harold, brothers-in-law Victor Heesacker, John Diedrich, Dennis Welsh. Therapeutic prayer

Prayers of Confession can stir my soul. In the standard United Methodist Hymnal there are such prayers, and these prayers always seem to touch my heart when I read them (silently when I am alone or aloud with others). Even in the prayers’ rather old-fashioned words, there is abundant meaning for us right now. Indeed, the meaning of these prayers is their relevance for us today. Long ago, when the prayers were composed, people erred and stumbled— and so it goes for you and me right now. Long ago, people were sustained by God’s grace, and that is true for us today.

News from the Chief

Hopefully sometime soon the weather will actually warm up enough for us all to go back outside. I have seen an uptick of people out and about, even though the cold is hanging around too long. Whether it is just being tired of the indoors, or if some of us just have a little more resilience to the cool temperatures, people are getting out more and more. With it comes the mix of traffic and pedestrians.

SEHS announces musical production for next fall

HAKUNA MATATA!! Director George Hirschboeck was excited to announce to the students this week that the 2023 Fall Musical at Sleepy Eye High School will be the “The Lion King Experience Jr.” Hirschboeck said a large cast with singing and non-singing roles is needed for the production. Auditions will take place in the Choir Room at Sleepy Eye High School on Sunday and Monday, March 26 and 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
