Are you reading this on Thursday? With the snowstorm that’s coming (I’m writing on Tuesday) I have no idea if we will be able to pick up the paper at House of Print in Madelia on Wednesday and get them back to the post office in time. If that doesn’t happen Wednesday, it sure isn’t happening Thursday.

Ask A Trooper

Question: Is it illegal for a vehicle pulling a trailer to have a ladder or ramp hanging from the side of the trailer? Answer: You are able to have ladders or ramps secured to the side of an enclosed trailer as long as you do not exceed the width of 8 feet 6 inches. This is the maximum dimension that may be operated on Minnesota roadways without a special permit.

Cruel Compassion

Nestled in the Old Testament book of Proverbs one finds this insight into human character. Proverbs 12:10 contrasts the righteous person with the wicked person regarding the virtue of compassion. “A righteous man knows the value of the life of his animal, but even the compassion of the wicked is cruel.”

BBC Leadership group visits Sleepy Eye

On Thursday, Feb. 16, the Bridging Brown County Leadership group met in Sleepy Eye, holding a morning session receiving the results of the Myers- Briggs personality test they took the previous month. The group visited the Deport Museum and a number of local businesses—Mark Thomas Company, Serendipity Boutique, Miller Sellner, and the Mages building at 229 Main West. Mages Land Company & Auction Services was the sponsor for the day.

Sports round up for co-op athletes

•Boys Hockey: The Eagles finished the regular season with a home win over Hopkins, 2-1, on Feb. 14. Austin Uecker scored one goal and one assist. The 1-seed Eagles start Section 3A playoffs with a home game scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 23 against 8-seed Fairmont, who defeated Worthington Monday. If the game is postponed due to weather, it will be Friday.
