Emily Nelson and James “Eric” Hildreth of Bird Island welcomed baby Jakobi Jameson Hildreth on Jan. 5, 2023 at Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Jakobi was delivered by Dr. Harman Dhaliwal at 8:38 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measuring 19 inches long.
Powerhouse Nutrition (PHN) and Anytime Fitness of Sleepy Eye recently held a Food Drive Collection Competition for the Sleepy Eye Food Shelf. A total of 225 items, equaling 205 pounds, was collected and delivered to the food shelf. The “Pie in the Face” winner was PHN by a close 7 points. I think it is safe to say that I am not the only one who has had to move snow within the past week. Some of us use a shovel while others use motorized equipment of varying sizes. There even appears to be some who are using the solar- powered method of waiting for the sun to melt whatever is on the sidewalk.
The Brown Soil and Water Conservation District is now accepting tree orders for the 2023 tree program. The tree order deadline is Feb. 24 although orders will be accepted until stock is exhausted. Several hardwood and evergreen species are available.
The University of Wisconsin- Superior has named Jasmyne Windschitl of Sleepy Eye to the Dean’s List (GPA of at least 3.50) for academic achievement during the Fall 2022 semester. The University of Wisconsin- Madison has named Alyssa Rubey of Sleepy Eye to the Dean’s List Honor Roll for the Fall 2022 semester.
