Sports round up for co-op athletes

•Boys Hockey: The Eagles played four games since last week’s paper. Jan. 17, a 7-2 win over Minnesota River. Austin Uecker scored 3 goals and 3 assists. Brandon Tauer scored 1 goal. Jan. 19, a 9-0 win over Redwood Valley. Uecker scored 1 goal and 3 assists. Talan Helget got 1 assist. Jan. 21, the Eagles took a 1-3 loss to Southwest Christian/Richfield with Helget scoring the lone Eagles’ goal. Jan. 23, the Eagles edged Windom 4-3. Uecker got 1 goal and 1 assist, Helget got 1 assist.

I now know why God created young adults. It is so someone can put tons of work into building six pond hockey ice rinks on the lake, only to take them apart and build them again on land, plus flood them and count on really low temps to make nice ice. (And it wasn’t even that easy — I skipped over all the other details they had to work out.)

Abigail Riederer of Sleepy Eye was named to Upper Iowa University's Fall 2022 Dean's List for earning a 3.5 or higher GPA. Iowa State University announced the following students from Sleepy Eye were named to the Dean's List for earning a 3.5 or higher GPA: Allen Arneson, Kayla Schroepfer, and Alaine Steffl.

Life (Fifth Commandment)

A cursory reading of the Bible will reveal an important life truth. God is creator and sustainer of all life. In Genesis 1-2 we see God creating all life on earth, from the plants and the animals to human beings. He is also the one who continues to sustain life by His power. The Apostle Paul declares that God “gives to all life, breath, and all things” (Acts 17:25). Life is given by God and it is precious.
