Congratulations to Dr. Sarah Lendt
Sarah Lendt (pictured with her family, from left: Isaac, Carmen, Sarah, and Keith) received her doctorate degree, an Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the Counseling and Student Personnel department within the College of Education at Minnesota State University, Mankato, on Saturday, Dec. 10. Lendt is currently counselor for students in grades 5-8 at Sleepy Eye Public School. Submitted
CherryRoad owner elected to NNA board
Jeremy Gulban, owner of CherryRoad Media group of newspapers, was elected in October to a two-year term on the board of the National Newspaper Association. Gulban has over the last two years purchased and started newspapers across the nation and now owns more than 70 papers.
Former local pastor charged with criminal sexual conduct
The Sleepy Eye Police Department released the following statement on Dec. 8.

Sleepy Eye Utility customers may have received a mailing regarding a solar project in Xcel Energy territory. This mailing is for Xcel customers only and does not pertain to Sleepy Eye Public Utility customers. Sleepy Eye residents should disregard this mailing. If there were to be any type of project like this, information would come directly from the Sleepy Eye Public Utility.

This past week the joint Sleepy Eye United football committee conducted interviews for the new head coaching position. We interviewed four very good candidates. After the interview process the committee selected Bent Kucera to be the new head coach for the SEU football team for the 2022-23 season. Brent brings experience, expertise, passion and leadership to the program. The next process is going to be the hiring of assistant coaches. We are looking to conduct the search and hire the coaching staff in the near future.
It’s time to take an interest in state government-Town Hall Meeting Dec. 14

Dutch student lives in Sleepy Eye this year
Amy van Bragt is an exchange student at Sleepy Eye High School this year. She comes from the town of Tilburg in the Netherlands, were her family lives on their farm, through the program Travel Active.
Tis the season…for shopping
Cortnie Mathiowetz, and daughter Coraline, are pictured at the Sleepy Eye Craft and Vendor Show at the EventCenteron Dec.4.This is the fourth year Mathiowetz has organized this event. She said it was the biggest one yet, with 47 vendors, completing filling the Event Center floor and a big crowd of shoppers throughout the event. Mathiowetz said she will be donating the profit from the show to B the Light, a New Ulm area breast cancer support organization. Deb Moldaschel
