It’s school concert/ program time! I am going to try to make it to all of them this time. I’m writing this on Tuesday afternoon, right after I went outside to feed the poor birds, and the rain and wind don’t really inspire me to want to go out to multiple school programs, so let’s hope for better weather.
Infection prevention measures important during this difficult respiratory illness season
As many look forward to gathering with friends and family for the holiday season, an early and difficult respiratory illness season puts another strain on our health care system. Influenza A and B, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and other seasonal illnesses are spiking at record rates, and some cases of COVID-19 are still leading to hospitalizations.
2023 City budget and levy adopted
After four months working on the budget for 2023, the City Council made it official at their meeting Tuesday night, Dec. 13. Following the required Truth in Taxation hearing—which did not garner any questions—the council gave final approval to the budget t.hat was approved as preliminary in September and reflects an increase in the property tax levy of $62,515 or 3.96% more than the 2022 levy.
First Day Hike at Minneopa State Park on Jan. 1 at 10 a.m.
Start out the New Year with a First Day Hike and a chance to view the winter landscape. The Minneopa Area Naturalist will lead a guided hike on the campground side of Minneopa State Park. America’s State Parks First Day Hikes offer individuals and families an opportunity to begin the New Year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors by taking a healthy hike on Jan. 1, 2023 at a state park.
Just the right time
We complete and begin new stages in our life all the time. We might mark off different periods in our life something like this: birth; youth; grade school; high school; college; marriage; children; the empty nest; retirement; and so forth. There are many different ways that we each might mark off the periods of our lives. Some of these new eras in our life come expectantly, like graduation from high school and college or retirement. For such events you have a date or a year in mind when it will happen. But other stages in our lives (like marriage or children) may happen very unexpectedly on one hand or be a long time in coming on the other.
