Rebels prove too much for Knights

Rebels 46, Knights 22 On Friday, October 14, the Knights made the trip to Adams to take on the Southland Rebels. With temperatures below freezing, the scoreboard stayed hot, with quick scoring to start and end the game. The Rebels simply outpaced the Knights, finding the end zone by capitalizing on big plays, leaving St. Mary’s playing catch-up In the air, Knights’ quarterback, junior Mark Anderson, completed nine of 19 passes, along with a pair of touchdowns and no interceptions. Anderson would amass 141 yards passing, as well as 13 yards rushing. Receiving was a struggle this game, with senior wideout Kaleb Wait leading the way with five catches for 36 yards. Sophomore tight end Talan Helget had three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore running back Kam Kosak had one catch for 44 yards and a touchdown. On the rushing side, the team also lacked its normal momentum. Sophomore quarterback Wyatt Pollard ran three times for 70 yards and a touchdown. Junior running back Jon Petermann had only nine rushes for 27 yards. Junior fullback Hayden Zarn would rush five times for 19 yards.

SE falls on the road to conference leader TMB

The Sleepy Eye Indians football team lost its last regular season road game to conference leading Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, Friday evening, Oct. 7, by a score of 388. TMB came out firing on offense, scoring 25 points in the first half. Sleepy Eye showed signs of offensive life in the 2nd quarter, inspired by a Gaige Bauer 77-yard run. Unfortunately, the drive ended up short of the end zone when TMB intercepted a pass at the goal line.

SWCD election on Nov. 8 ballot

This year, the Brown Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) has three Supervisor positions up for election. SWCD candidates appear on the ballot for the general election which will take place Nov. 8. Candidates are elected county-wide, but must reside in one of the supervisor districts up for election.
