Support for Teddy Bear Drive for Ellanor

Weelborg Chevrolet in New Ulm donated $3,000 to the Knights of Columbus Teddy Bear Drive for Ellanor Siefkes,a drive to raise money for medical expenses related to Ellanor’s bone marrow transplant and support the Siefkes family. Artists in action

Last week children were invited to make sidewalk chalk art at the library. The kids worked with New Ulm woman Kara Carlson who drew sidewalk chalk art every day for nine months during the pandemic to cheer people up. At Carlson’s suggestion, the kids at the library drew art that included messages with jokes or puns. Carlson published a picture book, “A little story about Sidewalk Chalk Art” which is available at the Dyckman Free Library. Deb Moldaschel

God can transform hearts

Approximately 2,700 years ago, the prophet Isaiah spoke to the southern tribes in the nation of Israel. He ministered the word of God in and around Jerusalem during the reign of four kings: Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah. His eponymous book is quoted in the New Testament over 60 times, more than all the other prophets combined. (I’ve been waiting to use “eponymous” in a sentence for quite a while. Here’s my chance.)

Enjoy the last few weeks of SE pool fun

We are less than a month before the pool closes for the season. Wow…hard to believe! Our last swimming lesson session will begin August 1 and end on August 12. We do have openings left if anyone is still interested in signing their child(ren) up. It has been a true joy teaching the children about water safety, strokes, and fun while enjoying a lifetime activity of swimming and some have even said they would like to be a lifeguard in the future!
