The Sleepy Eye Jr. Legion baseball team earned the Southwest District Sub-State Championship and a berth in the State Tournament which will be played in Ely, Aug.
On Tuesday, July 19 in Mankato, Sleepy Eye’s Legion team lost to Jordan, 12-2, in the opening round of the Sub-State Tournament. Starting on the mound was Sleepy Eye’s Jake Price. Price would throw three innings, recording three strikeouts, four walks,seven hits, and eight runs. Mason Sellner pitched the next two innings, allowing one walk, five hits, and four runs.
The Sleepy Eye 14U softball team took second place in the Tier 4 State Tournament on July 24, losing 4-3 in the championship game against the Rochester MN Stix. Sleepy Eye finished the season with a record of 32-5 and won both the Hutchinson Class B tournament and the Southern Star tournament during the season. The Sleepy Eye VFW baseball team completed their season in the District Tournament this past weekend, with two wins and two losses. First up was New Ulm Silver on Friday evening, July 22.
