A mid-summer update from SEFAC

As I write this article, we have had a stretch of hot and humid days. So, first and foremost I want to thank the 28 lifeguards for their hard work and dedication to helping us provide a pool for all of you. Also, a shout out to Matt Week of June 19, 2022 Schmidt and the Park and Rec Dept. for all the entral South Nort time they have put into making sure that the pool is working properly and looking great! As well as everyone at the city office for all you do behind the scenes to help make the pool run th Metro smoothly.

Kayaks, paddleboards can be rented at SE Lake

A new recreation opportunity is available at Sleepy Eye Lake with the arrival of the Kayak and Paddleboard rental station last week. The equipment, which includes stand up paddleboards and single or two-person kayaks, with paddles and life vests, is in a trailer at Sportsmen’s Park Campground. The equipment is rented through the City of Sleepy Eye website in two-hour time slots. The sign on the trailer provides the website address to provide rental opportunities for those who want to rent when they are at the park.

Chief Sleepy Eye statue shines again

The statue of Chief Sleepy Eye in Wooldrik Park (by the post office) was restored over the weekend. An anonymous donor arranged for the restoration through Brodin Studios of Kimball. The processes of restoration include sand blasting, repatination, and clear coating to help restore the statue to its original coloring.
