Knights advance in softball action

After their first round Section 2A win over GFW last Monday, the Knights softball team hosted Martin County West on Thursday, May 26 for another play-off win. SESM 15 MCW 0 in four innings Pitcher Lacey Mathiowetz got the win for the Knights, allowing no runs on 3 hits, striking out 5, and walking none.

TEL baseball roundup

Four out of five Tomahawk East League games scheduled for Memorial Day were postponed due to rain, including the Stark versus Sleepy Eye that was to be played at the Sleepy Eye Ball Park (rescheduled for July 8).

May EDA meeting report

The EDA Board met on May 24. I presented the financial reports for the EDA programs. So far in 2022, the EDA has disbursed over $96,000 in building rehab, business assistance/start-up, and sign and awning program money to local businesses in our community. There are also a few additional applicants that have met with me to discuss the EDA Program Applications and are currently considering EDA assistance for their business and buildings.

Memorial Day observed in Sleepy Eye

The thunderstorm on Monday morning meant that the Sleepy Eye Memorial Day program was held in the Sleepy Eye High School gym. Despite the change, a nicesized crowd attended the program. American Legion Commander Rick Mages was Marshal of the Day, directing the Honor Guard and introducing the various parts of the program.
