Laundry Love National started in 2003 when a houseless man in California was asked how he could be helped. “If I had clean clothes, I think people would treat me more like a human being,” he replied. There are now hundreds of Laundry Love locations nationwide.
The GFWC Qui Vive Club met May 5 at the home of Pat Stevermer, with five members and two visitors present. Lillian Stimpert provided the program. Items were brought for the Eagles Healing Nest at Redwood Falls.
The GFWC Woman’s Club met at Veterans Park on April 19 for a photo presenting $500 to the Huey Project before going to Hackers Farden Center for their meeting. Jacque Novotny and Rose Schwartz were co-hostesses; nine members were present.
With warmer weather on the way, we all will be rushing to our local watering holes for some fun in the sun. However, according to Safe Kids Worldwide, drowning is the leading cause of death among children between the ages of 1 and 4 years old and the third leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children 19 and under. There are some important reminders and guidelines to keep in mind before jumping in.

Vicki’s Camp N Country Jam is a brand new camping and country music festival that will be held July 7-9 near Redwood Falls. Vicki’s Camp N Country Jam will provide a small, intimate camping and country music festival with a VIP experience for all attendees.
Oh boy, slow down. I am excited that it is finally nice out too.
Another school year is coming to an end very soon as I am finishing my 13th year here at Sleepy Eye Public School. It has been an awesome experience working with great students, teachers and community members. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve this community.
At the May 10 Sleepy Eye City Council meeting, the council called for the first reading of an ordinance to sell 5 acres of land to Miller Sellner for $95,000. The property is located south of Miller Sellner’s property, outside of of the city. The property was acquired by the city through an earlier land swap involving farm land located to the east, inside the city’s Snow Farm addition.
