If you like to read, and if you are an old-timer like me, you probably have fond memories of the Dyckman Free Library from your childhood. One of my earliest memories in Sleepy Eye (we moved here in April of my first grade school year) was going to the library with my Grandpa Sandmann to get a library card. Grandpa had children from coast to coast, and each family had the “pleasure” of hosting him for visits that lasted a couple weeks. (He could be kind of bossy, but he did take me to the library that first summer.)

Ambassadors visit Dyckman Free Library open house

The Dyckman Free Library held an open house on May 11 to showcase the recent renovations throughout the library. The Chamber Ambassadors posed with staff in the original part of the library, where the carpet was removed and the wood floors were refinished. Other work in the library included new carpet and furniture, new bookshelves, and a new checkout desk. Nice win streak for Indians

The Indians baseball team put up some good offense to get nice wins last week with victories at Martin Luther/Granada-East Chain-Huntley on Tuesday, May 10 and at home against Wabasso Friday. Indians 12 ML/GHEC 4 Arian Saenz was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, 8 strikeouts, and 4 walks.

The Two Tables of the Law

Laws are essentials for an orderly and functioning society. Every society needs laws because human beings are sinful and need guidance and correction. Some laws which govern civil society can differ from one culture to the next, but we also have moral laws which are basic principals of right and wrong that are true for all people of all time. God has placed an understanding of this moral law in human beings through the conscience.
