Knights party like it’s a Caribbean night!

A large crowd came out to enjoy another - the 7th annual - successful Caribbean Knight Party on Saturday, May 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic School. Live music by Sandra Lee and the Velvets provided entertainment along with games, drinks, good food, and a silent and live auction. The grand prize winner of the raffle drawing for $4,000 (or Caribbean trip for two) was David P. Hoffmann from Starbuck. Submitted

The first summer youth activity is Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre, which will be hosted by Sleepy Eye Community Education, the week of May 30 to June 4. The residency was canceled for 2020 and 2021 but is returning this year.

Memorial Day program Monday

Sleepy Eye’s traditional Memorial Day program will be held on Monday, May 30, starting with Flag Raising at Veterans Park in downtown Sleepy Eye at 9 a.m. From there, the program will move to St. Mary’s Cemetery for Flag Raising and Invocation. The next site is Home Cemetery for the full program with a Memorial Address by Anthony Sellner and placing of wreaths for veterans of the wars and placing of flags for comrades departed since last year.

Golfers are Conference Champs

The SEU boys and girls golf teams both came out on top at the third and final leg of the Tomahawk Conference Tournament on Monday, May 16. The boys swept their third of three conference meets on Monday with a score of 359, to beat all other scores by over 20 strokes.
