Fishing, boating season is here

Are you looking to buy a boat, pontoon, canoe, or kayak? Buying a new watercraft is exciting. Dealers and retail stores vary on how sales tax is collected. A Minnesota dealer will collect sales tax and registration fees directly from you. They will take in all necessary paperwork and acquire your watercraft decals and get those to you. Retail stores that sell kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats vary in how they collect tax. Tax is not always collected at the point of sale.

Main Street building goes down

New action downtown: Cody and Alissa Groen have purchased the property next door to theirs, Fischer Groen Law & Groen Title Co., on east Main Street, from Ricky and Linda Borth. Seniors report on class trip

Several members of the senior class attended the April 13 meeting of the Sleepy Eye School Board to present a report on their recent class trip to Orlando. The students told about each day’s activities and showed a slide show of photos from the trip. Class advisor, Mrs. Caitlyn Pietig, and the students agreed that staying in a hotel connected to the Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure parks was a good decision as it allowed the students to visit one or other of the parks as they wished. The students also felt the time spent at Cocoa Beach was fun and valuable as some students hadn’t seen the ocean before.

Want my opinion on the weather? Again? April is the cruelest month (one of my longest held beliefs.) Well, at least it was nice on Monday for the big Sleepy Eye Sports-orama! And, a good time was had by all. (Just think, if we had a boys tennis team, they could also be playing in that same neighborhood at the same time!) While the official plan is for CJ to take pictures at home baseball and softball games, there is a slight complication because he is on the track team.
