This is one of those March weeks when I can speculate about whether spring has sprung without danger of sounding like a fool by the time you read it in the paper. All the weather forecasters have assured us that mild weather will prevail through the weekend (maybe even in 60s!). So, I’ll do it—I believe that spring has sprung!
The Sleepy Eye Senior Citizens Club met Feb. 11 at the Golf Club where a catered meal was served for their Valentines Party. Thirteen members were present. Following the meal a brief business meeting was held. The officers were re-elected: President Gloria Sellner, Vice President LeAnn Hale, Secretary-Treasurer Rhelda Renner. Cards were played after the meeting and a delicious cherry dessert brought by Gloria Sellner was served.
The Deutscher Sprachklub will meet on Sunday, March 20 in the room next to the cafeteria at Martin Luther College in New Ulm from 1 to 3 p.m. All are welcome. The goal is to have fun and continue the culture and language of the New Ulm area. For more information call 354-4745 or 359-4114.
The Brown County DFL will hold their annual convention on Saturday, March 19 at the New Ulm Community Center, 600 N. German St. Registration will start at 10 a.m. and the meeting will convene at 10:30. Local DFLers who filled out their caucus forms in early February and signed up to be delegates to the county convention will be in attendance to conduct election year business.

With our transfer to new ownership we are also initiating a new phone system, which required a new phone number. Change is sometimes difficult but we think this change is a good one. The new number will ring in our office (which we will soon have open again) and will have options to ring to the person you are trying to reach.
As a Student Council, we wanted to raise awareness and show support to anyone battling mental health. In order to do so, we decided to have a mental health awareness week for our middle and high school students—the week of March 7 to 11.
At the Wednesday, March 9 meeting of the Sleepy Eye School Board, Superintendent John Cselovszki was very happy to give his monthly COVID-19 report—no cases! He said he will continue to offer testing and hopes the good results remain.
