Sportsmen’s Club embodies the idea of Community Matters

If community matters in Sleepy Eye, then the Sleepy Eye Sportsmen's Club is a perfect example of what that means. Active in Sleepy Eye for 75 years, the Sportsmen's Club is a major supporter of area lakes, rivers, and parks (they even have a park named after them for their support in its development: Sleepy Eye Sportsmen's Park on the north shore of Sleepy Eye Lake), firearms safety training, the Boating & Bobbers pontoon, and a financial contributor to so many local causes it is difficult to keep track.

Sheriff’s Office on community involvement and mental health awareness

Every couple of months the Brown County Sheriff’s Office submits an article to all of the newspapers in the county regarding anything new or changes that have happened and how it affects how we do business. This time we would like to discuss some ways of helping take care of yourself and others by discussing such issues as community involvement and the mental health issues.

Did I say last week that the newspaper was going to look all new this week? I guess what I should have said was that the paper "might" look all new this week. It turned out that I was not the only one who needed to learn new stuff to start producing the paper through our new company.

MARCH COMMUNITY EDUCATION NEWS

A new session of Spring Forest Qigong classes will be held in March. A request for a late afternoon class was received and the instructor is willing to offer classes in the Media Center at Sleepy Eye High School for five sessions. Time will be 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Participants should enter Door #1 and go up the stairs to second floor and the Media Center is at the top of the stairs. In case someone would need an elevator, enter door #2 to access it. The first session on March 15 will focus on the liver. Other classes will be on March 17 with a focus on the heart; March 22 focus on the stomach; March 24 focus on the lungs and the final session on March 19 focusing on the kidneys. Registration is open but walk-ins are accepted.
