Using cruise control in winter

Question: I just moved to MN and heard you talking about not using cruise control in the winter, can you please write about this? Answer: Using cruise control on slippery roads could send you on a winter cruise – straight into the ditch or oncoming traffic! With dry road conditions, cruise control helps you safely monitor your speed, stay within the speed limit and improve driving comfort on long, fairly straight stretches of road. It should be used only when you are able to drive at a steady speed with safe road conditions.

The Conscience and the Ten Commandments

Most people in our country have heard of “The Ten Commandments.” It used to be true that children had to memorize them in school, at home and at church, and they could be seen posted prominently in public places. Dyckman Free Library news

February is the month of love and we LOVE how the refinished hardwood floors in the original part of the library turned out! The three-week process was worth every minute. Next week we will start to move the furniture back into the space. Most of the upstairs area will be available to use for study space or for meetings and the west room will house the Minnesota and Sleepy Eye history books. The circulation desk received a facelift and when finished will provide an easier to reach book return slot and ergonomically improved main counter. Thank you everyone for your continued patience as we work on these improvements.

Special election called

The announcement last week of 1st District Congressman Jim Hagedorn’s death was a surprise despite his battle with kidney cancer. Hagedorn’s office had just recently sent out a press release announcing his plan to run for re-election. Government figures from both sides of the aisle expressed their sympathy to Hagedorn’s wife, Jennifer Carnahan, and loved ones on hearing the news.

Snow Day!

It was about time — the snow was almost melted away but thankfully Mother Nature brought us a snow day on Tuesday. Looks like it was a good day to not drive out into the country.
