Calories In, Calories Out

There are a few undeniable facts in life. One of those facts is that we are all subject to age in a predetermined way according to the genes we inherited from our ancestors. Yet, we are not helpless. We do control our environment, which triggers gene activity. For example, if your mom lost all her teeth by age 30, you do not have to follow her path. Help keep our streets and sidewalks safe

School hit by Omicron Covid Storm

The Omicron Covid Storm has hit Sleepy Eye Public School the past week. We started out the new year in very good shape but by the middle of week two our positive cases started to explode. We have seen over forty cases of positives within a few days of each other. In light of these numbers the school has imposed a short term mask mandate starting on Jan. 17 through Feb. 1 to give us a fighting chance to minimize our positive cases. Our main goal with this mandate is to keep the in-person learning in place versus transitioning to distance learning. We do not make these decisions lightly and always look at students’ best interest. I do understand that some of these decisions have emotional toll on families but we are trying to stay with a rational state of mind making these decisions. Our hope is that we will be able to bring our numbers under control by the end of January. As long as we are able to staff our classrooms we will remain in in-person learning mode.
