LCWM 62
St. Mary’s 44
The St. Mary’s girls basketball team traveled to LCWM Friday and dropped a non-conference game 62-44.
The Knights fell behind early in this contest but were able to pull to within four at the break.
A 12-0 to start the second half by the home Knights made it tough on St. Mary’s.
“We got down and had to use a lot of energy to get back into the game, it became too much,” said coach Bruce Woitas.
Anna Surprenant led the team with a double-double. She had 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Leah Lax scored 13 while Allison Woitas had eight.

A strong second half lifted Norwood/Young America to a 61-50 win at St. Mary’s Monday night.
The Knights got off to a good start but the Raiders cut their deficit to 27-24 at the intermission.
Norwood/Young America shot well in the second half to pick up the win.
Liz Tauer led the scoring for the local girls with 14 points. Allison Woitas finished with 11.
Anna Surprenant finished with six points and 16 rebounds.
“I would say we didn’t get what we wanted as far as the wins but we have been making improvements and we hope to be a challenge in the playoffs,” said coach Bruce Woitas about the Knights’ season.
St. Mary’s opens the Section 2A Tournament as a number five seed and will travel to Nicollet Tuesday.
They end the regular season with an 8-16 mark.
