A 16-year-old Connecticut high school boy killed a 16-year-old girl after she turned him down for the junior prom, police said. The girl, Marion Sanchez, died of neck injuries after the boy tried to strangle her, pushed her down the stairs and stabbed her in the throat.

As visiting President Barack Obama offered South Koreans his condolences Friday for the ferry disaster, the South Korean government conceded that some bodies have been misidentified and announced changes to prevent such mistakes from happening again.
