J. Tom Ganske, age 70 of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 29, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. continuing Friday, Jan. 29, from 7:30 to10 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a Parish Prayer Service Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Father Andy Michels will be officiating the service. Condolences may be sent via e-mail to: www.sturmfh.com. J. Tom Ganske was born December 14, 1939, in Home Township, Brown County, the son of John and Ann (Kachelmeier) Ganske. A lifetime resident of Sleepy Eye, Tom farmed the family farm before becoming owner/operator of Ganske Trucking Company. He was united in marriage to Karen Halvorson on April 8, 1961, at St. Mary's Rectory in Sleepy Eye. Tom was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and all things John Deere. Tom especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by wife Karen of Sleepy Eye; children; Kim and wife Kimberly Ganske of Bloomington, Susan and husband Ronny Cordes of New Ulm, Nancy and husband Dan Tvedten of Rhinelander, Wisc. and Thomas Ganske of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Rachel, Brandon, Derek, Sam, Katlin, Nicole, Anders and Nathan; brother Lyle (Myrna) Ganske of Brea, Calif.; sisters, Colette Van De Bogert of Elkhorn, Wisc., Mary Jane Koessler of New Ulm and Maureen (Pete) DeRosier of Burlington, Wisc.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim; and sisters, Lois Flor, Mildred Linnihan and Joan Jensen.
