Ronald Michael Seitz was born Oct. 1, 1936 in New Ulm to John and Irene (Franta) Seitz. He attended grade school at the Holy Trinity Catholic School. On June 5, 1962, Ron was united in marriage to Catherine Zenk in Bird Island. This union blessed the couple with three children. Early in life, Ron worked for Lloyd’s Feed Service grinding feed, he hauled milk for the Lafayette Co-op, and he hauled fuel for the Klossner Co-op. In 1971 Ron moved the family to their farm in Sigel Township where he worked as a dedicated and devout farmer. He took great pride in being a farmer and truly enjoyed all things that involved farming. Later in life, Ron also drove truck for Hoffmann Transfer out of Lafayette. Besides his work on the farm, there were a variety of activities that brought Ron great joy in life. He was a lifetime faithful listener of old tyme music. As an avid outdoorsman, Ron spent countless hours fishing with family and friends. He was also one of his grandchildren’s biggest fans, cheering them on at as many sporting events as he could. Ron also appreciated watching the race track, and attending tractor pulls. Many wonderful memories were made over the years traveling with Cathy; special trips included going to Alaska, California, Florida, Branson, Germany, and Arizona. One of Ron’s greatest attributes was his wonderful ability to tell a story, and boy could he ever tell a good one. As an active member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Ron served as an usher, was involved with the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Knights of Columbus. As a proud promoter of the family farm, Ron was a member of the Land Stewardship Project, the Minnesota Farmers Union, the NFO, was a supporter of the 4-H, and was quite honored that both of his daughters served as dairy princesses in Brown County. Ron took great pride in his faith and his farm, but took the greatest pride in his family. Although his passing seems so sudden and unexpected, countless memories will forever stay in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him. Blessed be those memories.

Ron is survived by his wife, Catherine Seitz of rural Sleepy Eye; his daughters: Elaine (Steve) Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Annette (Dan) Olson of New Ulm; his son, Michael Seitz of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren: Keith (Jaime) Fischer and Craig (Elizabeth) Fischer, and Kallie, Kaden, and Korbin Olson; great-grandchildren: Bryce and Logan Fischer; sister, Marjorie Hurd of Lafayette; brother, Richard (Joyce) Seitz of Lafayette; sister-in-law, Jan Howell of Olivia; brother-in-law, Stanley (Sharon) Zenk of Foley; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene Seitz; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sylvester and Evelyn Zenk; his brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Diane Seitz; and brothers-in-law, Norm Howell and Leo Zenk.
