Michael (Mike) A. Suess, passed away at his home in Peoria, Ariz. on Sept, 7, 2018. Internment will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in the spring of 2019.

Mike was born in Sleep Eye, on Nov. 29, 1930 to Peter and Agnes Suess, owners of Al's Bakery. He was part of St. Mary's High School graduating class of 1948, joined the USAF in 1952-1954, drummer for the Marv Reedstrom Orchestra and a Charter Member of the VFW Drum and Bugle Corps of Worthington. In addition to his musical talent Mike was an accomplished baker and graduate of the Dunwoody Institute. He worked with his father and mother in Al's Bakery in Sleepy Eye followed by a long and distinguished baking career earning several awards for cake decorating and a Master Baker designation from the Retail Bakers of America. He moved with his first wife and five children to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1971 but never lost his touch with or love for Sleepy Eye often recounting tales of adventures with his buddies Aut Siedl and Hooch Hanson and playing hockey on the lake.

Mike is survived by his children: Anthony Suess, Timothy (Charlene) Suess, Patricia (William) Meznarich, Maryellen (Clayton) Hall and Frances (Ronald) Bishop; five granddaughters, three grandsons and ten great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Celine Ebenhoh also of Sleepy Eye, second wife Alice Cameron and beloved daughter Katherine Mary Suess.
