Mava Marlas (Schultz) Engholm
Mava Marlas (Schultz) Engholm was born Nov. 21, 1926 in Shawano., Wis., to Otto and Esther (Berkner) Schultz. She attended country school until the 8th grade and then graduated from Whittenberg High School in 1945. Mava then moved to Sleepy Eye, to join her family. Mava worked at Pietrus Produce in the office for five years. On May 12, 1950, Mava married Ivan (Ike) Engholm. They became members of St. Matthews Church in Evan. Mava was a Sunday school teacher for many years and a member of the ELCW group. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliarry in Sleepy Eye. Together her and Ike farmed in the Sleepy Eye area for 37 years. In 1987 they moved to Morgan. In 1988 Mava went to work at Cedar Mountain School until 2005 when she retired. Mava enjoyed crocheting, crafts, traveling and spending time with family.
Mava is survived by her four children: Dennis and Meg, Maricopa, Ariz., Alan and Michele, Clarkfield MN, Gary and Cheryl, Broomfield, Colo., and Connie, Maricopa, Ariz.; Two brothers: Delton and Kenneth Schultz both from Edgewater, Fla. Two grandchildren: Summer Trevor and Brandon Engholm. Four step-grandchildren: Christopher, Katherine, Danika and Henry; two great-grandchildren: Alexa and Cole. Mava was preceded in death by her husband Ike; parents: Otto and Esther Schultz; brothers: Lloyd and Robert Schultz; sister, Bernice Spores; sister-in-law, Evelyn Schultz and brother-in-law, Charles Spores.
