Thomas L. Roberts, 79, of Sleepy Eye died peacefully Aug. 18 at his home after a brief battle with cancer.

Thomas L. Roberts, 79, of Sleepy Eye died peacefully Aug. 18 at his home after a brief battle with cancer. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel. Memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye will military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.

Thomas was born July 31, 1938 to William and Isabelle (McKenzie) Roberts in Sleepy Eye. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School. From 1959 to 1965, he served in the U.S. Army as a medical corpsman. Tom was united in marriage to Joyce Schiller on June 16, 1962. After his years in the Army, he worked as a truck driver for Moorman's Feed. Tom enjoyed visiting with family and friends, fishing and spending time at his lake home.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Jan (Darold) Krzmarzick, sons, Brian (Chari) Roberts, Jason (Penny) Roberts and Troy (Samantha) Roberts; brothers: Bob, Beach and Jack; one granddaughter; 10 grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; and brother-in-laws, Willie Trebesch and Paul Volker. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents, William and Isabelle; brothers, Merril and James; and sisters: Catherine, Lois, Mildred and Helen.
